Libya’s National Development Agency (NDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based companies including FarmTech, Valley Valmont, and New Holland Agriculture to supply and deploy 1,000 centre-pivot irrigation systems across southern Libya. This initiative is part of a strategic national agricultural project aimed at enhancing food security, improving water resource management, and expanding modern farming in desert and semi-arid areas. Under the agreement, partners will cooperate on planning, development, and coordination of equipment supply and project execution, using advanced irrigation technology to boost agricultural productivity. The NDA emphasizes that the MoU reflects its focus on building international partnerships and modernizing Libya’s agricultural sector to support sustainable development and national priorities.

A consortium of four major American agricultural companies visited Libya's large single-pivot irrigation project in the eastern region, located at the Water Investment Authority headquarters in the Benghazi Plain near Salouq, to exchange expertise and discuss agricultural development. The group was led by Ahmed Al-Ghazali, Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Libya (AmCham), and included firms specializing in advanced irrigation systems, agricultural machinery, and project management — namely Valley Valmont, New Holland, FarmTech, and FGM. This American-Libyan collaboration focuses on modern farming technologies and has strong roots in the Jardinah Agricultural Project, a significant 9,000-hectare irrigated farming initiative that aims to strengthen Libya's food security, boost productivity, and contribute to economic growth and stability.
